Miguel A. Amador joined Ginnis & Krathen P.A. August 2018. He is a litigation attorney with experience in the areas of business litigation, insurance litigation, products liability, mass torts, complex civil litigation, professional malpractice, construction litigation, tobacco litigation, personal injury, wrongful death, and negligent security.
He successfully represented insurance companies, large corporations, small business and individuals in numerous civil and criminal cases from case inception through trial. He began his legal career at the Miami Dade Office of the Public Defender gaining tremendous courtroom and trial experience in defending his clients effectively and professionally.
After several years of defending his clients against criminal prosecution, Mr. Amador transitioned to the civil arena obtaining a position with a prominent Statewide Civil Defense Firm representing major corporations and insured parties in the areas of wrongful death, negligent security, premises liability, auto and trucking accidents as well as DRAM shop actions. He rose to the position of Division Leader supervising several associate attorneys, paralegals and support staff in the defense of his clients. He was previously employed by a respected Plaintiff’s firm representing injured parties, founded his law firm representing a wide range of clients in various capacities and was contracted by a mass tort/complex litigations law firm in the capacity of trial counsel.
Mr. Amador attended Florida State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Arts. He was on the Dean’s List and was a member of the National Hispanic Honor Society. After graduation, Mr. Amador was represented by an art gallery in Florida and worked as a professional artist for several years. Mr. Amador attended St. Thomas University School of Law. He received numerous accolades and honors including the Book Award (top student) in Family Law and Corporations. He won Best Brief in the St. Thomas University Moot Court Intramural Competition and was on the Dean’s List. He was an intern to the Honorable Julio Jimenez of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, Criminal Division, a research assistant to Professor Beverly Horsburgh and an Active Learning Instructor, tutoring law students in the areas of United States Constitutional Law and Criminal Law. Mr. Amador was elected to the executive board of the St. Thomas University Moot Court Honor Society, and was a member of the St. Thomas Mock Trial Team, Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International and The Honorable Peter T. Fay Inns of Court.
Mr. Amador was selected by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2015, 2016 and 2017. This recognition is a reflection of the excellence he brings to his practice and the quality of work provided to clients. The honor of receiving this selection is limited to no more than 2.5 percent of all attorneys in the State of Florida. He was also recognized by the National Trial Lawyers for his dedication to the practice of law in the category of Top 40 under 40 in 2016. He was also listed in the top 100 Civil Plaintiff Lawyers in 2017 by Nation Trial Lawyers.
